We are a group of women who listen, love, and lift up those around us. We are a team that prays ceaselessly for direction and guidance.
With diverse life experiences and perspectives, God breaths into all of us the passion to share his Love. In our main roles in the US, we each serve our local communities in unique ways; and when God opened the pathway to love people half way around the world, we joyfully flew to Kenya. Singing through airports, playing with children, and connecting with adults in meaningful conversations – after our first trips together we knew God was calling us to a new mission.
After thoughtful prayers and passionate consideration we established Cabbage & Crayons as a 501c3 nonprofit in 2022. Our members meet regularly to discuss, collaborate and establish new goals to work toward our mission.
Our vision for a school community came into focus while serving alongside local pastors at the Gioto dumpsite. With an open heart, open mind approach we engaged in research. We try our best to be culturally humble and focus on community development. Our members take purpose-driven trips to Gioto annually. We engage with the community, foster new relationships and scout out possible land and partnerships. We are constantly researching successful school models and reviewing our own plans with regard to our hearts and our mission.
We've learned about the greatest strength of the people of Gioto; which in their own words is “Unity and supporting one another”. We've gathered that their greatest hope is for their children to access educational opportunities away from the dumpsite. So to honor the Gioto vision, we primarily focus on the school project while supporting the community as a whole with relief needs.
We highly value our relationships as a way to share God’s love and are dedicated to walking alongside the Nakuru community members as they lead the way.
We invite you to join us.
